About Rishi Kumar

Rishi Kumar is an aerospace engineer turned patent strategist with over a decade of experience in patent prosecution, technical analysis, and IP monetization. He has drafted more than 100 patent applications for companies such as Apple, PayPal, Salesforce, and Samsung, and has drafted thousands of patents across industries including AI, semiconductors, networks and communications, satellites, and autonomous vehicles.Rishi blends deep technical expertise with strategic IP insight to help identify litigation-grade patents and commercially valuable IP assets. His background in engineering and practical experience in patent preparation and prosecution allow him to bridge the gap between complex technology and high-value patent portfolios.Before founding Aston IP, Rishi spent nearly 20 years in the aerospace and defense sector. He worked across satellite systems, launch vehicles, and navigation platforms, supporting more than a dozen launches—including Atlas V and Falcon 9—as an on-console launch monitor for the U.S. Space Force. He also led international space partnerships with allied nations on satellite constellations such as WGS and AEHF.
